Mushaboom Design creates expressive textiles and wallcoverings to enliven any interior.
The goal of Mushaboom Design™ is to help create interesting and beautiful spaces through the design of innovative fabrics and wallcoverings.
We are the antithesis of beigification and believe your space should be as interesting as you are.
Each collection starts with a story that provokes the artmaking process. Starting with experimentation in the studio we create a unified narrative through pattern and colour that brings the story to life.
‘Inspiration from urban sophistication to natural beauty is found in my travels, and brought together though sketching, photography, painting and collage which all comes together in digital painting – freely combining any or all of these elements. I hope people experience my sense of adventure in the work.’ – Barry Roode

– The printing facility can be about 90% smaller than required for tradiional print.
– 40% reduction in green house gas production through energy efficiency.
– Reduced overproduction by made-to-order eliminates 30% of production waste.
– Water reduction savings up to 600%
– Wool is durable, natural, renewable, biodegradable and recyclable.
For each collection I develop a unique sketching process. My overall style is always present but changing techniques allows me to keep the look evolving and fresh. After an series of free sketching it becomes clear to me what methods will most successfully communicate the story I am sharing in the work.
The Garden of Good and Evil collection was developed while living in Savannah, Georgia, USA. The keystone design of the collection, Arbor Vitae, is a hybrid of the fountain in Forsyth Park and a majestic tree nearby. Hand drawing and painting seemed to best create the feeling of the collection.
For Multilocal, I used mostly collage referring to various cities that I travel to on a regular basis. The layering process of collage incorporated the idea of the mixing memories of various places as well as the urban environment.
In Shadow Play I photographed the shadows of plants at night and brought flowers and leaves into the studio to photograph the shadows cast by three colours of light.
